If you are interested in adopting a Border Collie, please consider a rescued Border Collie. Many of these great dogs are dumped by people who just didn't know what they were getting into when they adopted a BC.
Adoping a BC is like adopting a ten-year-old with ADHD and a genius IQ! Lucy is a perfect example of this - at the age of 5 months she taught herself to climb a ladder and tried to go up to the roof! Lucy gets bored very easily and has a tendency to get into trouble. At six months she figured out how to unzip a soft crate from the inside. She can climb a 6-foot rock wall (she is only 17 inches tall) so we extended our wall another 3 feet with wooden boards!
If you have the guts to bring a BC into your life - they will give you great joy. But they are work! Please consider adopting a rescue BC if at all possible. You can visit the Border Collie Society of America's website and find a rescue group in your area - their site is http://www.bordercolliesociety.com/.
